Baby Care Basics, 2010
For Baby-Care Basics, I had the first Greetings From Motherland group photograph everyday objects and substances from our lives as mothers on a flatbed scanner. We experimented with scanning everything from breast milk to applesauce to safety plugs. For the first incarnation of this piece, the scans were paired with a nine-minute sound piece of our edited interviews of mothers created by participant Jane Jones, with music by Yisroel Gootblatt.
