Motherland Postcard Rack, 2010-2012
The Motherland Postcard Rack holds postcards written by audience members who attended Greetings From Motherland shows. After choosing a question about motherhood randomly from a bowl, audience members write their response on a blank postcard, choose a Motherland postage stamp, and have it canceled with a postmark and the date the woman became a mother. The questions are the same ones the group brainstormed and used as jumping off points for our own writing, interviews, and photographs for the first Greetings From Motherland workshops. The faux postage stamps were created from other images in the project, as well as by children at the first Greetings From Motherland exhibition.
